SeniorHeli-Lift Services personnel have been involved in the use of helicopters to erect pylons from its inception in the UK. Capable of lifting up to 1.9 tons in a single lift over any terrain, there are clear advantages over a static crane.
In 2013, Heli-Lift Services were responsible for the removal and reinstatement of electricity pylons in the Slimbridge countryside as part of Western Power Distribution’s £12m project to upgrade and improve the electricity supply across Gloucestershire.
A Western Power Distribution’s representative stressed the benefits of a Heli-Lift Services’ helicopter stating: "The new circuit will run along the Severn Estuary and will involve pylons being built in an innovative way to condense the build time, and minimise crop damage and disturbance to land owners.”
